I’ve been neglecting my GTI lately. Since I’ve mainly been driving demo vehicles from work, the VW hasn’t had a good detail for a while. I felt kind of bad with the amount of bugs left on the front end, which I usually like taking care of right away. But tonight I finally gave it a good, semi-quick detail.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Soon it will get a winter prep detail and polish, but that will have to wait for a weekend with some more daylight.

In other GTI news, I finally got a tune for the car and it’s freaking awesome! It’s crazy how much power is left on the table from the factory. Originally I was intending to just do a simple APR tune, however, most of the MK7 community highly recommends Equilibrium Tuning through a Cobb Accessport. So that’s what I went with. Around 60 more HP and 90 TQ on 93 octane. Super smooth power but pulls very hard.

The 55 + acceleration is so much better now. Topping up around 29 PSI of boost, this thing hits triple digits much quicker! I wish I did this earlier in the year as winter tires will be on before long. Sadface. Anyways, I still love this car every time I drive it and that’s all you can ask for.

Is it easy enough to switch between the tunes? And are you going to keep the tune on for winter?

Yes, for the most part. The initial tune took around 25 minutes but I hear changing back now should only take around 5. I’ll most likely leave it on as the drivability is similar to stock unless you really dip into boost.

Looks good, white can look flat even when cleaned but she looks good and glossy.

The engine can be really opened up.

On a Skoda forum a guy took a stock top spec Skoda Superb L&K with a 2.0TSi . And tuned it, added custom exhaust, etc... took it to 560bhp, then returned it to 520bhp to use as a daily driver.

There’s videos on YouTube of it, on drag races it usually has ‘DARTH’ on it’s licence plates.

Thanks. I really enjoy detailing this car but just haven’t lately due to lack of time and/or lazi ness. Adam’s H20 Guard ‘n Gloss really does keep the glossiness up to my liking for not being a ceramic.

Wow that Skoda is awesome! Ironically that intake looks to be about the one I’m about to buy for mine. Now I probably won’t do any more engine upgrades after this as it already gives me anxiety ha!

I like the Guard’n’Gloss, especially on black and dark coloured cars as it doesn’t smear like some can.

Though for time saving I use CarPro Hydro2Foam as I can use the foam lance to foam it on, then rinse and dry. It gives me more time for other parts of the car.

he really put heart and soul into the car, he sold it last year though after putting more money than what he paid for the car into it. The car is a £30,000 car. Lol.

I’ll have to check out Hydro2Foam. I’ve liked a some of the CarPro products I’ve used.

Seriously that is quite the build! Wouldn’t want to know how much lol!

That is NUTTY. I raised peak boost 6psi on my MINI (19 from 13) and I thought THAT was substantial, but I’m pretty sure it only amounted to a gain of about 25 hp MAX . I couldn’t imagine all-of-a-sudden having 60 more hp from a tune.

2017 Sport I presume. I really wanted the white but I do like how shiny mine is when clean.

Seriously! What’s most strange to me was just how normal it feel. Like yes it throws you back more and will burn the front tires off, but not unless you’re on throttle a good amount. Very smooth and linear power. Passing power is what scares me because you’re suddenly going over 90 lol.

Kinja'd!!!

Here’s the dyno chart of their OTS tunes. Stage 1 is the biggest gain and I don’t think I’ll go any higher.

Heck yeah! 17 Sport indeed. I LOVE this package. It’s everything I want in this car and not much I don’t. Very good value.

I like black and my prior Si was but just got tired of cleaning it so much. However it does look great when shined up!

I specifically searched out the sport package. Better brakes, lighting package, limited slip, and I got to keep the plaid seats!

I’ve been back and forth on a tune. There are days that I think it’s got all the power it needs but it is just so simple to add more so why not.

Yep same with me! It was the package I had to have. There’s a good amount of GTI’s in my area yet I rarely see another Sport which is cool.

Dude, that’s how I was. I was pretty pleased with power except on the top end/pass ing where it falls a little short. What doesn’t help is having 3 friends all with tuned GTI/R’s that I could actually drive before deciding. So once my warranty was up and I found a good deal on a used Accessport I was in.

There’s a video of a guy in rain Oregon applying it to his pick up. Yes, you can apply it in the rain too. Lol.
